Current UCLA students may pick up an AAP application and get general information by contacting AAP in 1230 Campbell Hall (310)206-1571.

AAP eligibility is determined in the following ways:

1) The Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Relations with Schools (UARS) identifies entering UCLA students whose academic profiles and personal backgrounds may affect their university experience, their retention and graduation from UCLA, and their access to graduate education.
  • The review of the academic profile analyzes the student's overall academic record (including grade point average, test scores, and number of advanced placement and honors courses) within the context of the available high school or post-secondary curriculum.

  • The review of the personal background analyzes the student's family income and resources, level of parental education, and social and environmental barriers that may impact academic experience and performance.

2) Students are eligible if they are part of any federally funded program that requires AAP counseling, tutoring, and/or mentoring services.

Please Note: If you are not eligible for AAP based on criterion 1 and 2 above, you may apply to AAP by attaching a statement documenting the specific educational, economic, or social barriers that have affected your academic experience and performance in high school or post-secondary education and that may affect your academic success at UCLA. Applications are reviewed by the Director of AAP and a sub-committee of the AAP Faculty Advisory Committee.
