Jessica Patton works primarily with
undeclared students in AAP. Along with her team of peer
counselors, Jessica's goal is to guide her students and
assist them in finding a major that they will enjoy and
excel in. She believes it is important for AAP students to
take advantage of all of the services and opportunities
UCLA offers students including tutoring, Honors, community
service projects, and research. She also encourages her
students to take advantage of AAP's Graduate Mentoring
Program in preparation for graduate study. She also is a
strong advocate for study abroad at UCLA. Prior to working
at AAP, Jessica was a counselor for students interested in
studying abroad. She feels this is a wonderful opportunity
for students to experience a new country/culture while
learning a great deal about themselves in the process.
Jessica grew up in a tiny town in
Humboldt County (Northern California). She completed her
Bachelors degree in Black Studies and Sociology at UC
Santa Barbara before studying abroad in Jamaica. She then
went on to receive her Masters Degree at the UCLA Graduate
School of Education in Counseling and Student Affairs.
