  Summer Transfer Program - STP 2009

STP is a 5-day residential program that prepares students who are close to transferring with the skills to complete the appropriate coursework and assists them with the application process. In addition, students receive individual advising and personal assistance to complete the application and personal statement. Students explore their career options, graduate school and financial resources available to them. The program introduces them to research opportunities, the demands of University writing, and the many support programs available. The program focuses on the history of and resources available to African-American students at UCLA.

Requirements

  1. Demonstrate a strong academic record (completion of 30 units, minimum 2.8 GPA);
  2. Have completed at least one transferrable English Composition course and/or be on track to complete transferable math;
  3. Complete the application, which should include:
    a. Unofficial Transcripts;
    b. Recommendation Form (from counselor, teacher, or community leader);
    c. Fall Schedule; and
    d. Essay (Response must be between 50 to 250 words, typed):*
    *Provide us with three (3) goals (academic, career, personal, etc.) that you would like to accomplish and explain how STP can help you achieve these goals.
  4. Be interested in African-American resources in higher education;
  5. Be available for the entire week of the program.
  6. Be ready to apply to transfer Fall 2010 or later.
  7. Maintain eligibility in the CCCP Scholars Program.
