UCTOP: University of California Transfer Outreach Program
The Center also runs the University of California Transfer Outreach Program (UCTOP), an aggressive phone calling campaign to encourage Los Angeles community college students to consider transferring to a UC Campus. AAP transfer students are hired to phone community college students with demonstrated potential for success in the UC system and to visit specific community colleges to meet prospective transfer students.
In addition, UC TOP plans events such as Buddy days and UCLA days. Buddy Days brings students from the community colleges to UCLA for a day and matches them up with a current UCLA transfer student in their major. During the day, the community college student shadows the UCLA student in their daily activities (going to class, tutoring, etc.) and they visit offices of interest such as CCCP, Admissions, and Financial Aid. UCLA days happen at the community college as they host UCLA academic departments, support services, faculty, and students for a day of information and workshops.
