AAP Junior Scholars
The Academic Advancement Program (AAP) Junior Scholars Program is exclusive to sophomore students who are interested in the arts, humanities or social sciences. Under the guidance of a Graduate Mentor and sponsorship of a UCLA faculty member, selected participants attend workshops and information sessions that expose them to research opportunities and provide information about graduate school.
Junior Scholars also explore a topic of their own interest and receive a $500 stipend upon successful completion in the spring quarter. Finally, Scholars present at the UCLA Westwind Conference, and have the opportunity to earn prizes from conference judges.
Students apply for the Junior Scholars program in the Fall quarter. The program is a two quarter long commitment (Winter and Spring).
Former Junior Scholars have gone on to participate in a variety of advanced research programs including but not limited to: ArtsIN, Community Development & Social Justice Program, Educators For Tomorrow, McNair Scholars Program, and the Undergraduate Research Fellows Program. Many others have served as interns, tutors, and organizers on-campus and in the broader Los Angeles community.
