Social Welfare

My name is Amber Yglesias, and I am currently in the Master of Social Welfare program. I earned my BA in sociology at UCLA, and during those four years I was involved in different community service organizations that served incarcerated youth and adolescents in group homes. I wanted to help disadvantaged populations at both the individual and policy level, so I applied to the Social Welfare program.

I am currently working with emotionally disturbed children, doing individual, group, and family therapy. If you are interested in learning more about graduate school, working with disadvantaged groups, are considering social work, or even if you are not sure what social work involves, I would love to sit down and talk with you. As intimidating as graduate school can seem, it's really about doing what you're passionate about.
