Public Health

Hi, my name is Jennifer Lucky, and I'm the AAP graduate mentor for public health. Although I didn't really know about the field of public health until after I graduated from college, once I learned about the way that public health programs work to address social, cultural, environmental and other health related issues that affect our communities I was hooked. I am looking forward to sharing my experiences and working with you to provide guidance and support around graduate education and careers related to public health.

Before coming to UCLA last year to begin a master's program in public health, I lived in San Francisco where I worked as a high school counselor and as a community organizer around environmental health and justice issues. Prior to coming to California, I attended the University of Michigan where I got my undergraduate degree in Natural Resource Ecology and Management.

I hope that with my master's degree in public health I can work towards bridging the gap between scientific research and community activism. I know finding balance between school, work and down time isn't easy, but it's important! So I try to do my best to find free time for my other passions which include surfing, reading, dancing and travel.
