Hi, future leaders of tomorrow! My name is Nataria Joseph. I am a third year graduate student in Clinical Psychology here at UCLA. I was born and raised in Louisiana, so I am a true down-to-earth "Southern girl" at heart. I received my masters degree in psychology in December 2006, and, currently, my time is spent doing research and beginning my journey towards formulating a dissertation topic, completing my clinical practicum at the VA hospital, and mentoring here at AAP.
Graduate school has been an opportunity for me to blossom and wear many different "hats" all at the same time: that of a student, researcher, mentor, teacher, clinician, and much more. Broadly, my research focuses on the mental and physical health impact of chronic stressors, especially those faced by disadvantaged populations within the current structure of our society; minority mental health; and health psychology. I hope to focus my research on populations that haven't received as much specific research attention in my field.
I have been with AAP since the summer of 2007, and it has been truly a rewarding experience. It has been an opportunity to be a mentor and teacher and, at the same time, learn and grow from interacting with amazing students. Come by and chat with me if it seems like I may be of assistance to you in your educational pursuits!
