I'm Bogdana Kovshilovskaya, the Life Sciences Supervisor at AAP Tutorials. I began my undergraduate career as a passionate pre-med, and will be graduating this spring with a degree in physiological science. I am starting a master's program in public health this summer, and will be applying to medical school soon thereafter. I've been a part of the AAP community since my first year at UCLA and it has been a deciding factor in my undergraduate success.

AAP has exposed me to the diversity of talent at the UCLA campus that I was eager to meet. AAP has an amazing group of students and staff that make fitting in easier and more fun. I was born in the Ukraine and immigrated to the United States during elementary school, even though most of my formal schooling has taken place in the U.S., I still embrace my Ukrainian and Russian heritage. AAP is full of people of other cultures and through it I have developed a greater understanding and appreciation for global communities. It has inspired me to take part in global healthcare efforts and to pick up another language.

I joined the AAP community as a Life Science 2 tutor after my freshman year, and have been tutoring the course ever since. I have tutored over two hundred smart, passionate, and dedicated members of AAP and have learned as much from them as they have from me. Everyone at AAP is committed to their education, community, and student involvement. It opened my eyes to the possibilities and opportunities available at UCLA and gave me the friendships to share those things with.

Aside from being an active member of the AAP community, a Life Science 2 tutor, and the Life Science Unit Supervisor, I obtained my license as an Emergency Medical Technician, conducted volunteer work with numerous departments in the UCLA Medical Center, participated in a Global Medical Brigade to Honduras, and worked with amazing faculty.

The Academic Advancement Program has supported me in all of my endeavors and has become a home to me. I hope that my contribution to the program has at least a fraction of the impact on current students, as AAP has had on me.
