Chemistry

Hello, my name is Jeison Recinos. I was born in Guatemala and currently live in Los Angeles. I have three siblings, of which I am the second youngest. I am the proud son of the most amazing person I know, my mom. I am 4th year biology major with a minor in Spanish. My long term goal is to become a doctor.
As an AAP member, I have been part of FSP (Freshman Summer Program) as well as an avid tutee. During my sophomore year at UCLA, I became an AAP general chemistry tutor. For the past three years I have enjoyed tutoring students about the intricacies of chemistry. I have a passion for tutoring and strive for my students to become active, critical thinkers. I became the Chemistry Supervisor at the start of my senior year. This position has helped my touch the lives of all the AAP students that have taken the chemistry courses offered.
During my free time, I love playing soccer. I am a member of the UCLA Club Soccer Team and an Intramural Soccer aficionado. Apart from playing sports and spending time with my family, I enjoy volunteering in the community. As a pre-medical student, I do various volunteering work with CCM (Chicanos/Latinos for Community Medicine, HOPE (Health Outreach and Pre-medical Experience) at UCLA, and CARE EXTENDERS.
Being a tutor/supervisor has given me the power to change the lives of people. If you have a question on how you can do it, too, don't hesitate to ask me. I am outgoing and easy to approach; I enjoy making people smile.
