Jenny Jay
Dr. Jay’s research integrates field and laboratory approaches to better understand the geochemical and microbial processes that govern the fate of contaminants in the environment. Dr. Jay has been teaching service learning courses for undergraduates for the past several years in her home department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. She was featured prominently in the LA Times and other media outlets for her recent the quality of sand on local beaches in LA County. In 2007, Dr. Jay was selected as the UCLA Faculty Fellow by the Carnegie Foundation, an honor obtained by only 25 faculty members from throughout the state of California. As a Carnegie Fellow, she will work with other colleagues from a wide variety of disciplines, engaged in the scholarship of service learning for political participation. Dr. Jay will advance the field of service learning by sharing the results of their scholarship to increase students’ understanding and skills.
