Request for Proposal for funding through the PA/NY Campus Compact Consortium, Building on Our Strengths - Deadline May 18th
Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the Pennsylvania and the New York Campus Compacts, Char and I are pleased to send to you the Request for Proposal (RFP) for funding through the PA/NY Campus Compact Consortium, Building on Our Strengths, supported by Learn & Serve America. This initiative seeks to encourage institutional change that supports service-learning and capacity-building both within institutions of higher education and their community partners, and community development focused on disadvantaged youth.
As mentioned in the NOFA, any Campus Compact member institution may apply for an Academic Discipline Network subgrant through our project. The Academic Discipline Network initiative seeks proposals from faculty who will be leaders in their discipline in building a peer-driven service-learning network. These networks will build models of service-learning course design, develop new partnerships, build capacity and evaluate the results. Activities may include service-learning course development, service-learning course module development, workshops related to service-learning in the identified discipline and dissemination of results. Academic Discipline networks are encouraged to partner with community-based organizations and their professional associations.
Through a broader approach to our final year of Academic Discipline Networks, we hope to raise the potential and impact of the Learn & Serve funds nationally. We hope that you will share this opportunity with your membership or those faculty members who might have an interest.
Please note that although the Academic Discipline Networks competition will be national, there is a competitive preference for those projects that originate with a faculty member at an institution in PA, NY, NJ or DE.
Awards
Subgrants will be awarded to Academic Discipline Networks ranging in amounts from $5,000 to $8,000. Subgrantees will be required to demonstrate a 1:1 match for their awards. Funding is available for up to three Academic Discipline Networks.
