The Bruin Readmission Program (BRP), (formerly SRRP - Summer Readmission and Retention Program), is designed to allow access to campus resources for academically dismissed UCLA students.  BRP, like SRRP, is a collaboration between College Academic Counseling (CAC) and Academic Advancement Program (AAP) with the Campus Retention Committee (CRC) and the Student Retention Center (SRC).

Through group and individual learning, the program helps dismissed students build the skills and confidence necessary for success and to find new sources of motivation and self-esteem that are vital to persist through graduation.

BRP is a one-term readmission program in the Winter or Spring quarters.  Participants will be enrolled in three classes that satisfy degree requirements and a one-unit pass/no pass Fiat Lux course specifically designed for BRP Participants.  Throughout the quarter, participants will meet with an Academic Counselor and SRC Peer Counselor.  Participants will also attend workshops on various academic topics.

Satisfactory completion of the program will allow the participant to continue the following academic term.

BRP is only one of several ways of being readmitted back to UCLA.  Other readmission options may be more appropriate.  Please make an appointment with an academic counselor who can carefully review your records and options.

Testimonials from 2012 BRP participants
The BRP program was very straight forward and was encouraging as well as it was engaged not only in our self being but also on how we were doing in our classes as well.

It gave me the techniques I needed to make it happen.  Then it was up to me to use them.  I feel like BRP did a wonderful job at doing preparing me.

It help me be more aware of the reason or causes of dismissal. It help me accept that these issues are common and there are ways to solve them…. It was not just about the school issues it was I thought a lifestyle change.

Through the BRP program I was able to acknowledge my problem and find the confidence to become a better student as well as being able to ask for help when i mostly needed it.

I know that it will help me persist and have that confidence knowing that I have the tools to succeed and the ability to sustain it.

[My Peer Counselor] exemplified true care and concern for my academic endeavors and ensured I was exposed to all resources that would assist me with my success in the program.

I feel that all of the assistance that was provided by the BRP staff, the workshops that I attended, reading material provided in the Fiat Lux all contributed to my success last quarter.

The Fiat Lux seminar introduced me to new ways of thinking about my identity as a student and the role of the university on my path to academic success.  Peer counseling then reinforces these ideas by refining which theories are applicable to me.  The workshops act as a group process where my fellow BRP participants and I support each other.  Finally, my academic counselor and I work out a plan for graduation that helps to compartmentalize the whole process into step-by-step academic goals.

I feel that everything that was done to ensure each students triumph during winter quarter were adequate enough  in the preparation of a successful return.

The BRP has empowered me as a student who knows how to take full advantage of the resources available to all students at UCLA.  Moreover, the program has given me tremendous confidence about my academic future and -- even more than that -- it has instilled in me the desire to help other students seeking readmission or retention at UCLA.
