Leona Bessonova
Advises students in: Biology, Chemistry, Psychology, Life Science and
Pre-Health
My name is Leona Bessonova and I’m a second year masters student in the department of epidemiology
here at UCLA. I hope to continue on to the PhD in the coming years. I’m originally from Brooklyn, NY
and moved to California after graduating college. I received my undergraduate degree from the Honors
College of the City University of New York at Hunter College in biological sciences with minors in
spanish, chemistry, and psychology. My honors thesis combined biology and public health and was my
catalyst for applying to grad school.
I studied abroad in Spain and away in Hawaii as an undergrad. I worked in the Office of Health
and Wellness before graduating and was President of a student-run feminist group on campus. I love
to travel and do cool things around the city.
I'm your ally in navigating through the requirements of UCLA and I hope to be a great resource for
you in planning courses for your major and interests. Don't hesitate to come early and often. I’m here
to help!
