Kelvin White
Advises students in: Afro-American Studies, History, Anthropology, Pre-Law,
Political Science and Economics
Hi! I’m Kelvin White, a PhD student in Information Studies. This is my third year as a Counseling
Assistant. I received my BA in History from Texas Southern University--an HBCU (Historically Black College
and University)—and my MA in African American Studies at UCLA.
When I am not studying for classes, I’m traveling. At last count, I’ve visited at least 17 different countries,
and I’m planning to take my first trip to Africa next summer. I love experiencing new cultures and trying my hand
at cooking ethnic foods. Since I have a natural tan and cannot swim, I tend not to frequent the beaches too much,
unless I need a change of pace.
I am looking forward to working with you and helping to make your stay here at UCLA as productive and painless
as possible. I am also interested in talking about a wide range of things—from how to survive your early years
here at UCLA to looking for the right graduate program for you. Feel free to stop by!
