Jim Masland
Advises students in: English, Humanities and Social Science
My name is Jim Masland. Currently I am a PhD candidate in the English department. The work I focus on
engages with the political and gender aspects of the 1790s in Britain. Working with students is something
I've enjoyed ever since I arrived at UCLA, and I am greatly looking forward to helping students make the
most of all the opportunities availbale at UCLA. Before coming to UCLA, I worked in Philadelphia doing a
variety of jobs that included coaching and work at Prudential Securities. I think these job experiences
gave me some sense of the world that lies beyond college. I look forward to helping students realize their
goals as an undergraduate so they can do what they want once they move beyond UCLA.
Soccer, squash, and chess are my favorite sports.
