Patty Ou
Advises students in: MCD Biology, Psycho Biology, Life Sciences,
Physical Sciences and Public Health
Hi! My name is Patty Ou and I am a 2nd year Master’s student in Public Health, specializing in
epidemiology. I received my B.S. degrees in Psychobiology and Molecular, Cell, and Developmental
Biology, and my MA degree in Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology from UCLA. I have been on the
pre-med track, and I am also familiar with Ph.D. programs in the biological sciences.
As an undergraduate at UCLA, I have done research in a plant molecular biology lab
(For those in the life sciences, start doing research early!) and presented at the UCLA Science
Poster Day. I traveled to Mexico, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua for mission trips; Spain for a summer
travel study experience; and Taiwan to perform with a symphony orchestra. I still serve as a Mandarin
Chinese interpreter at the UCLA Medical Center, volunteer at Valley Presbyterian Hospital, and
perform with the Chinese Cultural Dance Club for many cultural events on campus.
Going into my 7th year at UCLA, I went from feeling estranged by the big campus to calling this
place my home! It certainly wouldn’t do you any good to feel like you are “just a number” at UCLA.
You have the power to make UCLA the place you thrive and achieve your goals, and we are here to help
you! So please stop by and we’ll chat!
