New Students

You should plan to attend an orientation session in the summer, presented by New Student and Transitions Programs. Orientation will provide an introduction to academic and campus life at UCLA, and allow students to meet other new students. Students will also get advising and help with program planning for the fall as well as valuable information, such as choosing a major, the enrollment process, student services (from financial aid and housing to studying abroad and other extra curricular activities).

International students should be sure to check in with the Dashew Center for International Students and Scholars (DCISS) when they arrive.

If you are unable to attend an orientation session, you may sign up for a New Student Workshop, which are offered in August and September. These workshops are not a substitute for Orientation but will help you get started with general information on degree requirements and other information. You may sign up for workshops on MyUCLA.
