Dropping Classes
Please be aware that you MUST NOT complete your class in any way (i.e. take the final, turn in the term paper)
if you wish to petition to drop the course from your study list.

Weeks 1-2: Courses may be dropped on USRA with no fee and no transcript notation.
Week 3 and Thereafter: Students must file a
Red Drop Petition with their
respective counseling unit. These petitions are generally approved for extreme extenuating and documented
circumstances.
If a late drop is approved (Weeks 3-10), there is a $20 fee and a transcript notation indicating
the week the course was dropped.
If a retroactive drop is approved (after Week 10), students must return to their counseling unit to obtain
a Blue Enrollment form to process the drop. There is a $50 fee and a transcript notation indicating
the date the course was dropped.
Non-Impacted Courses
Weeks 1-2: Courses may be dropped on URSA with no fee and no transcript notation.
Weeks 3-4: Courses may be dropped on URSA with a $5 fee and no transcript notation.
Weeks 5-7: Courses may be dropped on URSA with a $20 fee and a transcript notation
indicating what week the course was dropped.
Weeks 8-10: Courses may be dropped by submitting a Green Restricted Late Drop petition to the student’s counseling unit with a $35
fee and a transcript notation indicating what week the course was dropped. Students are restricted to
three drops during this period throughout their academic careers.
Weeks 8-10, more than 3 courses dropped: Students must file a
Red Drop Petition with their
respective counseling unit. If approved, there is a $35 fee and a transcript notation
indicating what week the course was dropped. However these are generally only approved for extenuating and
documented circumstances.
After Week 10: Students must file a
Red Drop Petition with
UCLA College advising unit. If a retroactive drop is approved, there
is a $50 fee and a transcript notation indicating the date of the drop. These petitions are generally
only approved for extenuating and documented circumstances.
