Students must complete the University's Subject A or English as a Second Language (ESL) requirement prior to completing the College's writing requirement.

Freshmen entering the College of Letters and Science must complete a two-quarter English Composition requirement: Writing I and II. See the Schedule of Classes for a list of courses that satisfy this requirement.
