Academics

Honors Programs at UCLA focuses upon an interpretation of the intellectual life that is vital, innovative, interdisciplinary, student-oriented, rich in research and centered upon active, participatory learning.

We encourage all of our students to explore the many facets of UCLA's Honors Programs. Each Honors experience can be tailored to the student by the student's choice in fufilling their honors coursework commitment.

College Honors Program

Rather than having students complete a strict program of pre-selected courses, College Honors allows students the flexibility and freedom to select the honors class that interests them most. Discover ways to "create" your own honors course by doing an Honors Contract or participating in an Honors Seminar; receive GE credit while satisfying your Honors Collegium and/or general honors requirement; even participate in an off-campus Study and Discussion group and still receive honors credit.

Honors Collegium Faculty

The Collegium chooses its faculty on the basis of their firm commitment to teaching, their interest in student concerns, and their outstanding scholarship. These faculty members tend to be spirited lecturers. They have also made notable contributions to the academic community as scholars, writers, and researchers. Several are recipients of distinguished fellowships. Some hold UCLA's Award for Distinguished Teaching or are members of the National Academy of Science.
