Honors Interactive Program (HIP) at UCLABe a part of a mentoring program sponsored by UCLA's College Honors Fellows! We are looking for motivated mentees and responsible mentors to take part in this exciting program. Mentor Information: If you are a second, third, or fourth year College Honors student, sign up to be a mentor to new honors students and assist them with their transition to UCLA and university life. For continuing College Honors students: "Why should I be a mentor?" Here are six things to consider. Do you want to:
As a mentor you have will have a chance to help and guide several honors students to achieve their academic goals and be a part of UCLA community. Honors fellows will provide you with the necessary training and give presentations to help both you and your mentees make good academic decisions. In addition, we will also have fun group activities (e.g. Kayaking) where you will interact with other mentees and honors students. Pass down your UCLA knowledge and spirit by helping new and ambitious honors students to integrate both academically and socially. Each year we will award our best mentors with special "mentor of the year" awards. In addition, all mentors will receive a certificate and, if requested, a letter of commendation that testifies to your effort and enthusiasm. Requirements to be an honors mentor include: 1) Be at least a sophomore. 2) Be a College Honors student. 3) Be available to meet at least four times a quarter with your mentee. 4) Participate in at least one HIP sponsored group activity a quarter. 6) Be able to attend the HIP Info session/Interview Tuesday Oct 9th 5:30pm-7:00pm (2nd Week). 5) Friendly, fun and passionate! Learn UCLA knowledge and spirit from older and successful Bruins; Let your mentors help you turn your ambitions into success. To be an honors mentee, you must: 1) Be a freshman or first year transfer student. 2) Be a College Honors student. 3) Be willing to meet at least four times a quarter with your mentor. 4) Participate in at least one HIP sponsored group activity a quarter. 5) Be Friendly, fun and passionate about honors!
