Transition Programs
Beginning in Spring Quarter, the New Student & Transition Programs staff begins calling all of the newly admitted students to officially welcome them to UCLA.
This phone call will begin your transition into UCLA; as it will help you prepare for the upcoming deadlines that will take place during the summer, give you information about New Student Orientation, and answer any questions you may have. Some topics that will be covered include:

The UCLA New Student Orientation is designed each year to accomplish the following goals:

Introduce the undergraduate community to new students from both an academic and personal perspective
-
Provide information and assistance to new students so that they may succeed academically and develop personally
-
Insure that students feel adequately prepared to face the challenges of their first year at UCLA
-
Allow students to meet each other and develop new relationships
-
Provide peer counselors who can share their own experiences as a source of support and information
-
Expose students to the wide range of issues facing them as UCLA students, including factors affecting their personal safety
-
Introduce the variety of students services that are available on campus, so that students feel able to navigate the university on their own as they transition into their second year
Orientation Part 2 is a one-night event in Fall Quarter where New Student Advisors will be available for drop-in counseling to answer any questions you may have in preparing for Winter Quarter.
New Student Advisors will be able to:

assist you with course planning for Winter Quarter

provide assistance on how to enroll into your classes
-
answer questions you may have regarding your major and major coursework
-
help you begin preparing to apply to medical schools, law schools, graduate schools, etc.
Bruin Next Steps is an evening program providing students with the resources needed to successfully transition to their second year at UCLA. Past workshops have included:

“Strategizing Your Senior Year” student panel and presentation
