UCLA Amgen Scholars Program
Application Process
DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 2, 2010
BEFORE YOU APPLY:
- Check to see if you can participate in the entire program from Sunday, June 20- Friday, August 27
- All participants must attend the program for it's entire duration
- Review the program's eligibility requirements at http://www.ugeducation.ucla.edu/urc-care/AmgenScholars.htm
HOW TO APPLY:
To apply you must complete the steps listed below. We recommend that you complete the steps in the order listed on this page. However, we recommend that you contact the individual you would like to write your letter of recommendation and order and mail your letter of recommendation waiver form as soon as possible.
1. Complete the Online SPUR Application at: http://www.gdnet.ucla.edu/asis/srp/srpintro.htm#Apply
- Choose Amgen Scholars on the pulldown of programs in the on-line form
2. Please download and complete the supporting materials listed below. At the application web site you will be asked to submit and upload all supporting materials.

Letter of Recommendation: Your letter of recommendation should be from a faculty member who can best assess your ability for academic research and your motivation to attend graduate school. The person who writes you letter of recommendation will be able to insert the text of the letter on the Amgen Scholars application web site.
Unofficial Transcript: Please upload your unofficial transcript onto the application web site. This document needs to be uploaded as a PDF file.
Instructions on Submitting Supporting Materials:
3. Mail a Letter of Recommendation Waiver Form
- Look at the character limits for each question (it is very important that you stay within these guidelines).
- Before you upload your materials save, print and review them. This will ensure that your documents will be formatted the way you want them.
- Please save materials in the following format, GarciaEPersonalStatement.pdf. File names must NOT contain: spaces, hyphens, slashes, commas or other non-alphanumeric characters.

- Upload your supporting materials
