The MARC U*STAR Program at UCLA

Click Here for the Fall 2009 MARC Application

Transfer Students: All transfer students, including BRIDGE students are welcome to apply.  Please notify us as soon as you are admitted to UCLA. All minority science transfer students may contact us for information.

MARC now holds a regular recruitment drive/application period in early fall for new transfer students.

All applications are read by members of the MARC Selection Committee.  The Selection Committee will evaluate your application and personal essay, letters of recommendation (2 are required), your previous research involvement (this is not a requirement but it is highly recommended), your course work and GPA and your motivation for research.  Selection is competitive.  The Selection Committee will select top applicants for interview.

Typically 1½ times as many applicants will be interviewed as the number of available openings.  When you arrive for interview you will have an equal chance for selection as the other applicants selected for interview.  During the interview, the Committee will ask questions about your career goals and your prior experiences.  You will also have an opportunity to tell the Committee why you are a good choice for the MARC program.

Applicants must minimally have junior standing at the time they start the program.
