URC/CARE sponsors programs that provide enriching experiences for students who wish to step beyond just the research experience. These include opportunities to explore teaching, to explore scientific writing, and to explore research careers.

Citylab: A forum to learn effective teaching skills by executing hands-on lab exercises for Los Angeles High School students

Honors Collegium HC101A: A 2-unit class that explores research at UCLA and teaches presentation skills.

USJ: A student run journal publishing papers written by undergraduates pursuing research at UCLA.

MARC: The MARC Undergraduate Student Training for Academic Research (U*STAR) Program is a two-year fellowship sponsored by the NIH and designed for UCLA minority students who plan to pursue a Ph.D. in the Biomedical Sciences.  Students receive stipends for research training during the academic year and summer.

PEERS: A two-year program for entering freshmen that provides Collaborative Learning (EXCEL) Workshops for Science/Math Classes as well as other programs that encourage entry of underprivileged students into undergraduate research.
