Scholarship Description

The CARE Scholars Program provides students with previous research experience the opportunity to receive financial support while participating in upper division independent research with a faculty mentor. Funding for this program is provided by the following federal grants: Initiative for Maximizing Student Diversity (National Institutes of Health) and California Alliance for Minority Participation (National Science Foundation).

CARE Scholars will be awarded $1500 for the quarter. Continuation for subsequent quarters will depend upon satisfactory performance and the submission of a research paper describing the work performed during the term. Depending on the funding source, CARE Scholars will be paid biweekly or monthly. The last check will not be dispersed to participants who have failed to submit their final report as specified in the application and in the Letter of Agreement.
