SUMMARY:Celebrating 100 Years of the Deaflympics: Preserving Institutional 
 Independence
DESCRIPTION:Join us for this lecture with Professor Donalda Ammons! \n\nIn 
 this lecture\, Professor Donalda Ammons\, former President of the Internat
 ional Committee of Sports for the Deaf (ICSD\, 2003-2009) and the first wo
 man elected to that role\, will explore the history of the ICSD and Deafly
 mpics and their critical places in the global sports landscape. With 40+ y
 ears involvement in USA deaf sports\, and 20+ years of involvement with th
 e Deaflympics\, including roles as team leader\, delegate\, and Secretary-
 General\, Ammons draws from that experience to examine the ICSD’s former
  and future relationship with the Olympic and Paralympic movements. \n\nSh
 e will address the institutional challenges confronted by the Deaflympics 
 and the ICSD’s ongoing efforts in preserving its institutional independe
 nce amidst pressures to integrate with other global sporting bodies while
