At Eye Level Photo Exhibition
A collaborative project with Rancho’s Violence Recovery and Prevention Program.
This visual storytelling project features six Latine and Black wheelchair users with spinal cord injuries exploring photography as a way to document their everyday lives. All are former patients of Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center in Downey and work as peer mentors and counselors with people injured by gun violence through the Rancho Violence Recovery and Prevention Program (RVRPP).
Developed through a series of collaborative photography workshops, the project approaches the camera as a tool of self-representation. Bringing together portraits of the participants with photographs and stories of their homes, neighborhoods, routines, mobility, and moments of joy, the exhibition presents six distinct perspectives on disability and everyday life in Los Angeles.
